Based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s story this exciting original production premieres in Wilmington this Christmas season. Set to Tchaikovsky’s stunning score\, the celebrated tale comes to life with intricate set designs\, period costumes\, and over 100 dancers including WCFA students\, local professional dancers\, and performing the lead will be professional guest artists from Chicago’s world-renowned Joffrey Ballet\, Dara Holmes (Wilmington native and former student) and Derek Drilon.Join Clara and her Nutcracker prince as they embark on a thrilling adventure into a magical winter wonderland. Experience with them the grandeur of the Land of the Sweets as never before\, and marvel at the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier as they dance the grand pas de deux. In celebration of our sixteenth season in the ILM area\, Wilmington Conservatory of Fine Arts and Wilmington Dance Theatre are delighted to present this cherished tradition.\n\nGuests can also add the VIP Nutcracker experience to their ticket. Those who purchase this VIP Experience will have access to the post show meet and greet with Dara Holmes\, Company Artist with the Joffery Ballet of Chicago. As a youngster\, Dara received her ballet training from Cory Smith\, Founder and Director of the Wilmington Conservatory of Fine Arts\, here in Wilmington\, NC. \nGuests with a VIP Experience Pass will be able to meet Dara Holmes\, and have your playbill autographed by the stars of the nutcracker. *Please note: Meet & Greet ticket DOES NOT include a show ticket. Drawing on popular motifs from the much loved novel\, the afternoon tea will be a fitting tribute to the beloved fictional characters of Neverland. \nIn true British fashion\, guests will enjoy a delicious array of teas presented by the Tea Lady Ms Diane\, plus a sweet and savory selection of magical finger foods with a creative twist\, such as pixie dust biscuits\, lost boy sandwiches\, tick-tock tarts\, and fresh scones! Be entertained by the dancers of Wilmington Dance Theatre as they present an abbreviated performance of “Peter Pan” before its debut on the Wilson Center Stage. Tea party guests will also have the opportunity to take photos with the Neverland characters during a meet and greet! Specialized raffles from donors and local businesses will also be available. \n“But you never exactly knew whether there would be a real meal or just a make believe\, it all depended upon Peter’s whim.” – from Peter Pan and Wendy from JM Barrie \nAll proceeds from the tea will fund the 501-c3 non profit Wilmington Dance Theater.
